I realized I should probably show you guys a better quality pic of my print from the last post, so here it is:

It’s pretty sentimental as it’s a photo I took while out on a really fun date with my bf. The saying is something we say to each other all the time and I had it framed and gave it to him as a Christmas gift. Major girlfriend points. If you’re wanting a copy for yourself, let me know, I can make you one too (score some boy/girlfriend points of your own!)

Hey ya’ll, time for me to post this little styling project from last week. Having moved to a new place for a few months, I’m having fun playing, accessorizing and styling throughout the space. Let’s be honest, I’m on a budget but there’s no reason why my space can’t be beautiful broke-chic. (I just coined that phrase but I think I really like it, must remember to use it again)

The lamp is a hand me down, the smaller framed art is from a thrift store ($14!), the “BUT SERIOUSLY, LET’S MAKE OUT” print is one of my pieces (in an Ikea frame I believe), the small jewellery tray, three vases and the wooden box are all from various thrift stores. Nothing from that group was over a few dollars if I remember correctly.

Here’s a closer look at the little art treasure I found. It’s really quite a beautiful abstract piece with nice texture and awesome purples and golds. The frame + mat have a high-end look and feel and are worth waaaaay more than $14 so even if I didn’t absolutely adore this gem, I would have bought it for the frame and just switched out the art.

And now for a closer peek at my refurbished two dollar wooden box. I just re-read that last sentence and it definitely sounds wrong taken out of context, but you’re reading this on my blog so hopefully there’s a photo of a wooden box above these words that can provide said context. Ooookay, so anyway…I found the box for two dollars and it was looking quite sad. After sanding and staining it a rich walnut to bring out the grain, it was looking much better but it still needed something. So I grabbed my wood-burning tool and burnt some patterns onto the top and sides. Much much better/more interesting.

This photo shows the wood-burning detail a bit better and my favourite amethyst perched on top. Boom.
So what do you think? Pretty no?
xoxo
